We want to create a healthy and nurturing space where the community comes together to learn and grow, develop and train. A place where art and culture converge, the talents and dreams of our visitors are nurtured and the possibilities unleashed. We’re all about building vibrant, sustainable programs and projects that transform our neighborhoods!

Our Vision

The Andrew Freedman Home Initiative is dedicated to creating global H.U.Bs (Holistic Urban Beacons) that provide innovative solutions for sustainable community development. We focus on reconnecting and revitalizing international communities of color through technology, art, and entrepreneurship.

Who We Are

Originally an artists' collective for Bronx-based creators, the Andrew Freedman Home has evolved into a contemporary, collaborative space. We bring together artists, educators, technologists, and entrepreneurs committed to providing quality workforce programs and innovative education to marginalized populations worldwide.

Our Mission

We strive to empower individuals to live with dignity and become vocal, active, positive contributors to their communities. Our approach centers on:

  1. Interdisciplinary Residency: Offering studio space and professional development for up to two years.

  2. Incubator Programs: Fostering entrepreneurship and innovation.

  3. Artisan Workforce Development: Focusing on youth and adult growth through tutelage, mentorships, and hands-on experience.

Our Philosophy

We believe in the power of ART for public engagement, activism, and social change. Our holistic vision of art-education integrates:

  • Media production

  • Immersive performance

  • Emerging and experimental approaches to learning and creativity

Our Goals

  1. Achieve organizational and operational excellence through thorough examination of our real estate property for current programmatic use, building preservation, and future development.

  2. Establish the Mid Bronx Senior Citizen Council's community development model as a blueprint for improving urban communities through art-education, food security, job creation, and economic sustainability.

  3. Offer experiences that educate, empower, and contribute to individual success and socio-economic well-being, enabling community members to thrive in their neighborhoods.

Our Impact

Participants in our programs receive:

  • Studio space

  • Sponsorship opportunities

  • Professional career support and development

  • Interdisciplinary collaboration experiences

In return, they contribute their skills to community development through:

  • Educational workshops

  • Mentorship programs

  • Contributions to our online Digital Library

Together, we're building an international community of artisans of color, finding solutions and common identity through art and technology, and addressing the growing digital divide in marginalized communities.

Join us in our mission to transform neighborhoods and empower individuals through art, education, and innovation.
